WSC Family,

I am reaching out to all WSC families in support for my former boss in England and his soccer team. He is the head of Portsmouth College Football Academy (UK) and the team are coming out to Boston on a soccer tour from March 4th - 12th to showcase their skills to colleges in the hopes of getting the opportunity to come to school over in the States.

To support this tour we are looking to have the boys stay with host families during the time over here. We would love for all 18 players to be housed in the same town to make travel and planning easier. The boys are 16-18 (Juniors & Seniors) years of age.

I am reaching out to see if any Weston families would be interested in hosting 1 or 2 of the team from 4th March – 12th March 2019 to give them a true ‘American’ experience.

Please scroll down to view the teams itinerary for the time they are here.

The main requirements are:

- Provide a private space (bedroom or basement) with own or shared bathroom

- 3 meals a day

- transport to drop off points for team bus travel

- Entertain players during allocated 'host family time' (Show them the sights and sounds of Boston)

When I first came out to the US I stayed with a host family in Sherborn. I was due to be with the family, who had just hosted a coach, for a week while my club arranged a more permanent family but I ended up staying with that family for 2 and a half years. The connections that can be made in a week can be life changing and give your family new lifetime friend/s and cultural experiences you might never get without this opportunity.

If you are interested and would like more information please contact me on

We really appreciate any families willing to share their homes and experiences with these boys to make this trip a memorable one.

What are host families expected to provide?

We ask that each player is provided with access to the house, their own bed, some storage.  Access to the internet is desirable.

Do I need to provide transport for the player?

Yes, players will need transport to and from pick up and drop off points and to any events that the family would like to do in the down time with the player.

Can players Share a room?

If you wish to host multiple players room sharing is acceptable provided there is adequate space.

How am I allocated a coach?

All coaches and host families submit a profile form in which details of experience, hobbies, religious beliefs, eating habits etc are all exchanged so that the right player can be placed with your family.

What should I expect of the player?

Each player hosting experience is different and unique.  Each player will treat your house with respect and abide by any house rules that you apply.  House rules such as the use of the telephone, light chores, rules on alcohol consumption and smoking policy should be outlined at the start so both parties are clear.  These can be addressed in the profile form so that families and players can be matched together with greater accuracy and so that each player knows what is expected of them prior to their stay.  PCFA has a no smoking Policy.

Will I have the opportunity to contact my player before they arrive?

Once players and families have been matched contact details will be exchanged so that you have the opportunity to initiate contact wherever possible.

What happens if my circumstances change and I wish to opt out of the host a player?

If there is ever a situation where your family’s circumstances change and you no longer wish to host, the Host Family Coordinator will be on hand to work through the situation and re-locate the player.  We would ask for a grace period to allow this transition to take place if necessary.

Will there be any Social Events for the Host Families?

Yes! PCFA appreciates everything the Host Family will do to help our players have a positive experience upon their arrival in the United States. Further details to be communicated
