Weston Soccer Club Families,

 

Please find details below for Weston Soccer Club Spring 2023 programs. 

 

BAYS Soccer (3rd – 8th Grade)

• Teams will practice 2x/week and play games on Saturdays from 4/8 – 6/10. 
• Players are expected to attend at least one practice per week and 70% of games.
• Teams are volunteer-coached with professional coaching support throughout the season. Please consider volunteering to coach your child’s team!
• Coaches will have options to practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. We will notify you of your young player’s team assignment and practice schedule by Friday, January 27th.

Weston Soccer Club Age Directors and Director of Coaching, Chris DiCecca, are responsible for player evaluation and placement.

• Teams will generally be formed based on two-year age groups; 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, & 7th/8th  grades.
• We have the flexibility to create teams from a single grade if it is in the best interest of the players.

 

Weston Development Skills (PreK – 2nd Grade)

Formerly known as Weekday Skills, Weston Development Skills is for children in PreK – 2nd grade. Coached by professional coaches from PROformance, players can expect to gain exceptional technical development training in a player-friendly and competitive learning environment.

Weston Development Skills is a separate program from Sunday Gameday (see below) with a separate registration.

• Sessions will run for 10 weeks, from 4/4 – 6/8 (Makeup date the week of 6/12)
• All sessions take place at Alphabet Field.
• Players are expected to bring shin guards, a fully inflated soccer ball and a bottle of water to practice sessions.

Tuesdays:

2:30 - 3:30 - 1st/2nd Girls & 1st/2nd Boys 

3:30 - 4:30 - Kindergarten 

4:30 - 5:30 - 1st/2nd Girls & 1st/2nd Boys 

 

Thursdays:

1:30 - 2:30 - PreK 

2:30 - 3:30 - Kindergarten 

3:30 - 4:30 - PreK 

4:30 - 5:30 - 1st/2nd Girls & 1st/2nd Boys

 

The 2:30 p.m. sessions of Weston Development Skills require volunteers to assist students in walking over from Country and Woodland School to Alphabet Fields. Please volunteer upon registering!  

 

 

Sunday Gameday

 

Sunday Gameday is for children in PreK-2nd Grade.  Teams are coached by parent volunteers, and the curriculum is designed to introduce our young players to competitive play in a fun and supportive environment.  We teach age-appropriate concepts of positioning, playing as a team, and the rules of competitive play (fouls, throw-ins, goal kicks and corner kicks) so that our young players are ready for BAYS (travel) soccer against other towns in 3rd grade.

Sunday Gameday relies completely on volunteer coaches; the club provides professional resources and guidance in preparation for and throughout the season, but we cannot offer Sunday Gameday without adequate volunteer coaching.  It takes a village…put together your own coaching village and sign up for a team!!

Sunday Gameday is a separate program from Weston Development Skills with a separate registration.

• Sessions will run for 8 weeks, from 4/16 – 6/11 (OFF 5/28)
• All sessions take place at Alphabet Field

• The Spring 2023 Sunday Gameday season will consist solely of game scrimmages. Coaches will not be asked to teach drills/skills or activities. 
• Players and coaches will receive team jerseys based on MLS and NWSL teams.
• Games will be two 20-25 minutes halves with a halftime.

PreK:          11:30 – 12:15

Kindergarten:      12:30 – 1:30

1st Grade:   1:45 – 2:45

2nd Grade:  3:00 – 4:00
